Currently, we are looking for a Software Developer to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Software Developer writes efficient and effective code to create and maintain high-quality IT applications that meet or exceed the business needs of our customers.  The Software Developer will analyze customer and system requirements and ensure accurate results, while also maintaining high levels of performance and security.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Execute full software development lifecycle
  • Formulate and implement solutions to business and system problems
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Identify system requirements
  • Consult with business partners to identify software requirements and features
  • Collaborate with other developers
  • Provide valid estimates on tasks when required
  • Promptly communicate updates and corrections to estimates
  • Interpret considerations for selecting an optimal testing environment for specific applications
  • Design application tests to ensure adherence to functional and quality requirements
  • Validate changes by testing applications at various stages of development
  • Train customers on new applications and provide support
  • Ensure system requirements and deadlines are met
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and technical developments
  • Focus activities on developing and maintaining positive relationships with the business
  • Avoid technical jargon when inappropriate


Skills & Abilities:

  • Interpersonal Relationships – The ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Estimating – Ability to break down key components of a task, and use reasonable judgement, past experience, and technical and business knowledge to consistently, reliably, and verifiably predict the man hours for a task or project.
  • Producing Results – Ability to create timely solutions that meet customer requirements, adapting the design and solution to support changing needs.
  • Software Product Design/Architecture – Basic understanding of and experience with activities, tools and techniques for software design; ability to identify key concerns and deliverables.
  • Programming – Strong working knowledge of the syntax, structure, and features of multiple current software languages. Ability to design, write, test, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source code. Keen desire to learn and master new technology skills.
  • Requirements Analysis - Ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
  • Application Testing – The ability to design, plan, and execute application testing strategies and tactics to ensure software quality throughout all stages of application development.
  • Stakeholder Focus - Basic understanding of the values and practices that align business needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all decisions and the ability to communicate ideas, information, and needs with the business.

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field, with strong academic achievement

Experience: Prior software development experience, preferred.

Computer Skills: Strong working knowledge of programming languages such as C# or other .Net languages as well as modern web-based technologies. Familiarity with Mainframe technologies is beneficial.
